BOGOTÁ — ORO — TOTH & LAMB ORIGINAL
Inspired by a visit to the Museo del Oro in Bogotá,
Colombia. One of the most extraordinary museums in
the world — thousands of pre-Columbian gold pieces,
the sacred offerings of the Muisca civilization, the
legend of El Dorado. This piece maps that encounter
in the form of a mind — gold and deep blue, the ancient
and the present, the sacred and the urban.
Real earth and water from Bogotá are embedded into
the surface of this painting. The city that holds
the gold of an entire civilization lives inside
this small work. Gold was never just money for
the Muisca — it was light, it was offering,
it was the sun made solid.
This piece carries all of that.
